Big Picture Alliance Captures HowPhillyMoves Press Conference

April 26, 2011 –

The outdoor installation of HowPhillyMoves is now underway with seven of the 26 dancing-models already displayed along the parking garage of the Philadelphia International Airport.  The city took a moment to celebrate this initial phase with a press conference involving the Mural Arts staff, Mayor Nutter, and three of the dancers whose gorgeous images are already displayed along the garage.

Big Picture Alliance continues to capture the incredible excitement that is bubbling around HowPhillyMoves by documenting each integral piece of the project to contribute to our documentary, GATEWAY: The HowPhillyMoves Story.  Today GATEWAY Director Chris Ambolino, GATEWAY Camera Operator Jeremy Ginsberg and our very own Teaching-Artists Laura Deutch and Steve Smith were on location to capture footage of the conference.   Check out our Facebook page for more images from this fun day!

Successful BPA media program at Puerto Rican Unity for Progress

Involving women from age 19-65+

BPA instructor Laura Deutch ran a successful media program for women at Puerto Rican Unity for Progress. The program was funded by Susan Komen for the Cure, bringing these women together to learn about early detection and screenings of breast cancer while also allowing them to communicate with survivors. The women at Puerto Rican Unity for Progress wrote, created, and produced PSA’s about the importance of early detection and screenings.

Special thanks goes out to the Executive Director of Puerto Rican Unity for progress, Carmen Perez, and their Director of Programs, Damaris Andujar.

Congrats to all the women at Puerto Rican Unity for Progress from creating amazing PSA’s on breast cancer awareness!
